Aleph Farms has partnered with manufacturer and distributor of bio-based products BBGI and Fermbox Bio, a synbio research and manufacturing business, with the aim of increasing Southeast Asian capabilities in the cell-ag space.

BBGI is a Thailand-based company with a specific focus on biofuel products created through biotechnology. Fermbox Bio develops and delivers sustainable synbio products, leveraging microbial fermentation and synthetic biology.

Together the companies aim to produce cell-based meat at “Thailand’s first” production plant for cell-ag applications.

The new collaboration complements Aleph Farms’ growth strategy in Southeast Asia, which has been supported by previously announced partnerships in the region, including with Thai Union, a global seafood leader dedicated to sustainability and innovation.

This partnership with BBGI and Fermbox Bio focuses specifically on production enhancement, including elements devoted to cost optimisation and operational scale-up.

By increasing production capabilities for cell-based meat in Thailand, the partnership can help countries in Southeast Asia achieve a stable and reliable supply of high-quality animal-based nutrition for their populations.
